Moscow has accused the British Royal Navy of “planning, provision and implementation” of blowing up the Nord Stream 1and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, without offering any evidence.

Many analysts believe that the Kremlin was behind the explosion which measured 2.3 on the Richter scale.

The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) have hit back accusing Moscow of making “false claims of an epic scale” after Russia blamed Royal Navy personnel for blowing up the gas pipeline.

Moscow has suggested that they will speak to the United Nations Security Council over their dramatic claims that the Royal Navy was behind the attack.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow wanted to “draw the international community’s attention… to a series of terrorist attacks” and highlight “the UK’s involvement”.

In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defence said, “According to available information, representatives of this unit of the British Navy took part in the planning, provision and implementation of a terrorist attack in the Baltic Sea on September 26 this year.

“Blowing up the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.”

A spokesperson for the UK’s MoD said, “To detract from their disastrous handling of the illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defence is resorting to peddling false claims of an epic scale.

“This latest invented story, says more about the arguments going on inside the Russian Government than it does about the West.”
