The US President has said he will not be “wasting” his time trying to make peace between Kyiv and Moscow as it is clear Vladimir Putin is not interested.
Donald Trump said it is 2very disappointing” as he has always had a “great relationship” with Putin, he said there is a lot of “hatred” between the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Russia dictator.
Speaking on Air Force One Trump told reporters, “We’re going to have to know that we’re going to make a deal. I’m not going to be wasting my time.
“I’ve always had a great relationship with Vladimir Putin, but this has been very disappointing.”

Speaking about peace in Ukraine, he had expected it to be easier than other diplomatic challenges, Trump said, “I thought this would have gone long before peace in the Middle East… if you look at India and Pakistan, I could say almost any one of the deals that I’ve already done, I thought would have been more difficult than Russia and Ukraine. But it didn’t work out that way.
“There’s a lot of hatred between the two — between Zelensky and Putin.
“There’s tremendous hatred.”
A few days ago, the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the Trump Putin meeting is “not completely off the table.”
Leavitt said, “The President has also long expressed his frustration with Vladimir Putin and, frankly, both sides of this war. He’s always said in order to negotiate a good peace deal, both sides need to be interested in a good peace deal.”
The White House Press Secretary added, the US President has “not enough interest and enough action” from Putin for there to be peace.
“The President and the entire administration hope that one day that could happen again, but we want to make sure that there’s a tangible, positive outcome out of that meeting, and that it’s a good use of the President’s time,” she continued.
On 22 October Washington placed their first set of sanctions on Russia’s two largest oil firms, Lukoil and Rosneft including their subsidiaries.
The Kyiv Independent reported that Kremlin special envoy Kirill Dmitriev said, “Frankly, we do not believe that these sanctions will have significant impact on the Russian economy because oil prices in the world will rise and Russia will sell just fewer gallons of oil at a higher price.
“For sure, a conflict in Ukraine will have a diplomatic solution.
“So we’ll have a discussion how to move forward, how to make sure that Russian interests are taken into account, because only by taking Russian interests into account can the solution be found.
Moscow hit back at Washington saying that the US President is on “the warpath against Russia.”
The deputy chair of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has vowed that Russia’s path is to totally destroy Ukraine.
Medvedev said, “If any of the numerous commentators still had any illusions, here they are.
“The United States is our adversary, and their talkative ‘peacemaker’ has now fully embarked on the warpath against Russia.
