Former NATO chief Lord Robertson has issued a warning that the UK is “under attack” and the real “danger” is that the “public doesn’t yet know” or want to bury their heads in the sand.

He warned that the UK is now “more vulnerable” then we have ever been since World War II.

Speaking to the i newspaper Lord Robertson warned that the public does not “appreciate enough” how much of a “threat there is” to the UK.

He said, “The volatility of events and the velocity of change has made us much more vulnerable than we were before.

“The danger is that the public doesn’t yet know that, and doesn’t appreciate enough about how much of a threat there is to us, or therefore what to do about it.”

He added, “Britain is very vulnerable to an external enemy, because we’re already being attacked.

“We are under attack at the present moment, in the grey zone in terms of cyber attacks, targeted assassinations and sabotage and the rest of it. We now know that the threat could be even greater.”

Lord Robertson and MPs have warned that the UK is no longer protected by the US and the UK must no prepare for war.

According to Civitas who published a damning report warned that the should NATOs Article 5 be triggered the US will now “no longer” respond as under the US President he has put the “final nail in the coffin.”

Civitas warned Britain must now “prepare for the worst; that is, we must prepare for the fact that the US may no longer be a reliable ally and may well become a separate actor, pursuing a narrow understanding of its national interests.

“Today’s US is not only no longer acting within the framework and constrains of its traditional alliances, it is already acting in a manner which can be perceived as being contrary to the interests of some of its allies.

“President Trump, it seems is even looking towards Russia as a potential business partner; the Kremlin and the White House appear to be quietly normalising commercial and diplomatic relations.”

Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, a former Nato secretary-general and the chair of Labour’s recent defence review, said, “The UK is under-prepared and under attack,” he wrote in the foreword.

The report gave stern warning about the British government saying there is “no sense of real urgency.”

The former Chairman of the Defence Select Committee, Tobias Ellwood has warned  last year, “there’s a 1938 feel to the world” meaning we are in a pre-war period as was seen prior to World War Two which started on 1 September 1939.

Ellwood told GB News, “We are attacked daily by Russia, let me make that clear,” which many Brits may be unaware off.

He said this is “all designed to cause economic harm” and “sow political confusion” which is all part of Vladimir Putin’s strategy against Britain.

The much-respected MP suggested the UK is facing conflict, he said, “There’s a 1938 feel to the world right now,” but suspects he won’t as the US is part of NATO, for now.

Ellwood said, “What Russia does is to probe, to see where there are weaknesses, to use proxy influences – the green men, as they’re called – those not in uniform, to cause havoc and deniable attacks on Europe and indeed the UK,” he added Europe is now in “a new era of insecurity.”
