Steve Wright the head of the Fire Brigades Union (FSU) has warned that Sir Keir Starmer is facing the sack if he fails to show that he is “delivering” in the months that follow.
He said he does not want to see a “revolving door” at Downing Street, Wright added, “I want to see this Labour government deliver.”
He told The Times, “I don’t really care who does it, I’ll be honest…There is a benefit to keeping someone in position as long as they’re delivering and listening.
“There’s hope. We’ll see what happens in May, won’t we?”
Wright was asked if all 11 affiliated trade unions could join forces and tell Starmer its time for him to resign, should the May elections be disastrous, he said, “I think so.”
Starmer is planning to sack Rachel Reeves if the Chancellor does not do well during the May elections, and it is most likely she will be used as an escape goat for poor results in local elections in England, and Scottish and Welsh Parliaments.
The Daily Mail reported that a Labour MP warned, “Someone’s head is going to have to roll and he is determined it won’t be his.”
It has been reported that the Prime Minister has lost patience with Reeves over increases to tax, employers’ national insurance, winter fuel payments, cutting disability benefits and the increase in business rates, which is seeing more businesses falling into administration and a freeze on hiring.
