The US President has bought forward his $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC and a two-week trial date is set to be for February 2027, a Florida judge has ordered.

The two-week hearing will take place at the Wilkie D Ferguson Jr US Courthouse in Miami from 15 February 2027.

Donald Trump is suing the BBC over editing of a speech which appears that the US President deliberately directed supporters to storm the US Capitol.

District Judge Roy Altman rejected the BBC’s application to delay process of discovery,  and the judge will not dismiss the case. Both sides will now obtain evidence from other parties.

A BBC spokesman told GB News, “As we have made clear previously, we will be defending this case. We are not going to make further comment on ongoing legal proceedings.”

Documents at the courthouse lists the plaintiff as President Donald J Trump and the defendants as the British Broadcasting Corporation.

In 2025 Panorama was under fire over editing an episode which gave the impression the US President encouraged his supporters to storm the US Capitol on 6 January 2021.

The film was spliced and shows Trump saying, “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol… and I’ll be there with you. And we fight. We fight like hell.

On Wednesday 6 January 2021 thousands of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol, police locked the building down and the House and Senate were forced to take recess..

Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a citywide curfew from 6pm until 7 January 2021 to quell the protests.
