Dmitry Medvedev, who said that a nuclear strike could be considered “lawful” under Russia’s nuclear doctrine, should London or Paris provide Ukraine with a “dirty bomb” or nuclear weapons.
The Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman said in response to Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) that the UK and France want to “disguise the transfer of nuclear weapons to Kyiv.”
The Kyiv Post reported that the SVR claims that London and Paris have now realised there is “no chance” of achieving “victory” for Ukraine to defeat Vladimir Putin’s war.
The SVR also claims that the UK and France may be preparing to assist Ukraine with nuclear-related technology or components.
The Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman warned that the intelligence provided by the SVR “radically changes the situation.”
Medvedev said, “This is a direct transfer of nuclear weapons to a country at war.
“There cannot be a shred of doubt that in this case, Russia would have to use all weapons, including non-strategic nuclear ones, to strike targets in Ukraine that pose a threat to our country.”
Medvedev added, “And if necessary, in the supplying countries as well, as they become accomplices in the nuclear conflict with Russia.
“This is the proportional response that Russia has the right to.”
The SVR reported on Tuesday that they believe that London and Paris will deliver Kyiv a “Wunderwaffe,” German for “miracle weapon.”
The SVR believes that Europe is working to deliver European-made technology parts and equipment, including a French small-sized ballistic missile warhead that could be launched from a submarine.
Earlier on Tuesday, the SVR said in a statement, “The British and French want to disguise the transfer of nuclear weapons to Kyiv as Ukraine’s own development.”
Russian intelligence also claims, “Britain and France realise that there is no chance of achieving victory over Russia through the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
Russian media alleges the plan will involve “the covert transfer of European components, equipment, and technologies to Ukraine in this area.”
The Russian SVR claims that covert transfers of European industrial or technical components could occur.
The French TN75 thermonuclear warhead was mentioned in Russian media speculation as a theoretical reference point, and Germany was reported to have rejected participation.
