Russian media outlets have taken a markedly critical stance towards Donald Trump’s handling of the ongoing Middle East conflict, with commentators making stark claims about the US president’s mental state.

In a recent report by Steve Rosenberg, one prominent Moscow newspaper unleashed a scathing tirade, declaring, “The ‘peace president’ has lost his mind.

The emperor has no clothes — or rather, sanity.” This statement encapsulates the sentiment among some Russian analysts who believe Trump’s policies are erratic and damaging.

The state-aligned newspaper Kommersant echoed these sentiments with equal fervour, remarking, “Trump wanted to strangle Tehran, but he’s tightened the noose around his own neck.”

This metaphor highlights the perception that Trump’s aggressive rhetoric and actions towards Iran may backfire, not only jeopardising US interests but potentially destabilising the broader region.

The paper cautioned that the ramifications of Washington’s approach could extend beyond American borders, adversely affecting other nations that are currently uninvolved in the conflict.

Similarly, various other Russian media outlets have joined in the chorus of criticism, deriding what they perceive as a fundamentally flawed strategy in the Middle East. These voices suggest that Trump’s approach is not only confusing but also dangerously shortsighted, risking further escalation in an already volatile region.

In stark contrast to this media backlash, Trump remains defiantly unyielding in his stance. On Wednesday, he issued a stern warning regarding Iran, suggesting that the United States could “massively blow up” an Iranian oil field if tensions were to escalate further.

This threat underscores the volatile nature of the situation and Trump’s willingness to leverage military force to achieve his objectives in the region.

Last week, Sir Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, has urged Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to take a stronger stance against Donald Trump, calling the US President “out of control” following his military actions in the Middle East.

In an interview with GB News, Davey described Trump’s operation in Iran as “appalling” and expressed concerns about its impact on the UK economy amid ongoing global instability.

Davey criticised the Prime Minister for not confronting Trump more decisively and called for closer cooperation with European and Commonwealth allies to safeguard trade, defence, and security. He stated, “No, he [Trump] doesn’t know what he is doing, and I’m really worried that this American President is out of control.”
