Fears are growing that Iran could potentially strike European cities, including London, after intelligence revealed that its latest long-range missiles are capable of reaching targets thousands of miles away.

This warning follows an incident where Tehran targeted the UK-US military base on Diego Garcia, located in the Chagos Islands, using intermediate-range weapons.

This base is approximately 2,360 miles from Iran, which exceeds the regime’s previously assumed strike range, raising alarm among Western defence officials.

Israel issued a stark alert on Saturday night, warning that European capitals are now “within direct threat range” of Tehran’s expanding missile arsenal.

The Israel Defence Forces stated, “Missiles that can reach London, Paris, or Berlin,” describing Iran’s missile program as a “global threat.”

Defence experts have indicated that Britain currently lacks a dedicated system to intercept long-range ballistic missiles over its own territory, relying instead on allied capabilities such as the US SM-3 systems in Eastern Europe and Patriot batteries operated by Germany.

Steve Prest, a former Royal Navy commodore, cautioned that the technology behind such missiles is closely associated with space capabilities. “Ballistic missiles are effectively space rockets — they go high and come down fast,” he noted. “If you have a space program, you have a ballistic missile program.”

Reports indicate that a US warship intercepted one of the missiles fired toward Diego Garcia, while another failed mid-flight. The Ministry of Defence has chosen not to comment on the timing of the attack.

These developments have ignited a fierce political dispute in Westminster. Kemi Badenoch accused Keir Starmer of “dithering and delaying” and demanded full disclosure regarding the threats posed by Iran. She stated, “Now we learn — not from the Prime Minister — that Iranian missiles have targeted a British base.”

As tensions escalate quickly, the prospect of Iran possessing missiles capable of striking deep into Europe represents a dangerous new phase in the conflict, bringing the threat closer to home than ever before.
