The Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov armed with “unstoppable” nuclear “‘Tsirkon hypersonic missiles on board” which can travel at the speed of Mach 9 will lead a naval task force pas the UK’s coast.

In a show of strength against the West the Russia frigate with the naval task forces will sail past the UK in “January 2023” to perform “combat tasks in the Meediterranean Sea” armed with nuclear weapons.

A source who is close to the Russian Defence Ministry told Russia’s state news agency TASS, “The Admiral Gorshkov is scheduled to begin its combat duty at sea in January 2023.

“It will perform its combat tasks in the Mediterranean Sea, with Tsirkon hypersonic missiles on board.”

The Mirror reported that Oleg Gladkiy, commander of the Russian Northern Fleet’s missile vessels, said, “The ship is armed with cruise missiles, including long-range and hypersonic Zirkon missiles.

“Of course, this carries a certain responsibility.”

The Russian naval task force will participate in highly provocative war games and the timings or routes have not yet been disclosed.

Moscow’s state-controlled TV said that this is Putin’s weapon of choice to wipe out America and other Western countries in the event of a nuclear war.

Putin previously hailed the “newest [nuclear] missiles fired from the sea at sea targets, and land targets.

“The tests were carried out successfully, flawlessly.

“This is a big event for our country, a significant step in improving Russia’s security, in increasing (our) defence capability.”

Putin added that the Zirkon missiles are in “serial production,” and he described the missiles as  “truly unparalleled … in the world.”

he Russian Defence Ministry’s own channel, TV Zvezda said, “The speed of the Zircon hypersonic missile is so high that it prevents the opponent’s air defence system from detecting its impact in time.

“In fact, its launch will be known only after the target has been hit.”

TV Zvezda said the weapon has a “variable trajectory” which helps to avoid detection from air defence systems.

Previously, the frigate’s Captain Igor Krokhmal has said, “No one will see the missile launch or its flight.

“They will only see when the missile hits the target.

“A surface target, a coastal target. I don’t think there will be anything to counter this in the next few years.”

In September three Royal Navy vessels were shadowing a Russian task force which were heading back to Russia from the eastern Mediterranean after supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Royal Navy has sent Type 23 frigates HMS Westminster, HMS Lancaster and HMS Richmond who are tracking the “Russian cruiser, Marshal Ustinov – the sister ship of the ill-fated Moskva which sunk in the Black Sea – and destroyer, Vice-Admiral Kulakov, plus their tanker, in waters close to the UK.”
