With St Patrick’s Day just around the corner, there’s sure to be millions of pints of Guinness flowing across to mark the festivities.

But with the cost of pints beginning to soar in some parts of the country, research conducted on behalf of Alt Index has found where exactly you can get the cheapest pint of Guinness this weekend,

Data was examined from all Wetherspoons locations in the UK, excluding eight locations at UK airports, where average prices tend to be significantly higher than a regular branch of the chain.

It found that Rutland, East Midlands, has the cheapest of the lot, with the average price of Guinness in the county costing just £2.63.

Meanwhile, it’s unsurprisingly London where you’ll struggle to find a pint of the good stuff for under £5, with the average cost of a Guinness in inner London settling at £4.90.

There’s only four UK counties where the average pint will be less than £3. Other cheaper locations include the East Riding of Yorkshire, where you’ll be set back just £2.87 on average, with Flintshire in third place at £2.98, and County Durham just shy of the £3 mark at £2.99.

Elsewhere, many of the other less pricey locations can be found around parts of Scotland and Wales.

On the other hand, other more expensive prices of Guinness can be found in Edinburgh (£4.17 average price), Birmingham (£4.04) and Leeds (£4.03). Alongside inner London, those are the only four parts of the UK where your average pint of Guinness will set you back more than £4.
