Indonesia will continue to expand its export market by showcasing its products at international exhibitions, Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga announced. The country is participating in the Salon International de l’Alimentation (SIAL) exhibition in Shanghai, China, from May 28–30, 2024, to introduce its food and beverage products to international consumers, particularly those in Asia.
“We are committed to continuing our efforts to reach a broader international market and introducing the excellence of Indonesian food and beverage products to the world,” Sambuaga said.
The Indonesian Pavilion at the expo features products from eight exhibitors, including instant noodles, coffees, swift’s nests, cooking oil, tempe, and snacks. Additionally, the pavilion is hosting a coffee cupping session, allowing visitors to explore the diverse range of Indonesian coffee tastes and scents.
Indonesia’s exports to China, the host of the SIAL exhibition, have seen significant growth during the 2019–2023 period, increasing by 27.3 percent. Main exports to China in 2023 included ferronickel, lignite, coal, matte nickel, and palm oil.
In contrast, Indonesia’s main imports from China in 2023 comprised smartphones, automatic data processing machines, autonomous bulldozers, and insulated wires.
The SIAL Shanghai exhibition is taking place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center and is expected to draw 5,000 exhibitors from over 70 countries.
