Trump says he’ll save crypto if he wins in 2024 – London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com

Former President Donald Trump made a big promise at a recent rally in Wisconsin. He said that if he gets elected again in 2024, he’ll put an end to what he calls President Joe Biden’s “war on crypto.”

This is a pretty big change for Trump, who used to be really sceptical about cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

  • Back in July 2019, Trump tweeted that he wasn’t a fan of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, saying they weren’t real money.
  • From 2020 to 2022, he kept criticizing cryptocurrencies, calling them a threat to the U.S. dollar.
  • However, in May 2024, Trump said he would accept cryptocurrency donations for his presidential campaign.
  • And just this month, he posted on Truth Social, saying, “We want all the remaining Bitcoin to be made in the USA!”

Tobi Opeyemi Amure, an analyst at Trading.Biz, thinks Trump’s new stance on crypto is a smart move. “Trump’s promise to support the cryptocurrency industry if re-elected is a strategic move to appeal to a younger demographic and position himself as a pro-technology candidate.

It also reflects the growing importance of cryptocurrencies in the United States and the potential impact they could have on the economy and society,” Amure says.

During the June 18th rally, Trump also talked about how important it is for the U.S. to be a leader in the cryptocurrency space. He said there’s “no second place.”

If Trump does get re-elected and follows through on his promise to support crypto, it could be a game-changer for the industry. It might lead to better rules and policies that help the sector grow and innovate.

Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how things play out in the 2024 election and beyond. But one thing’s for sure: cryptocurrencies are becoming a bigger and bigger part of the conversation, even in politics. And with Trump throwing his hat in the ring, the debate around crypto is only going to get more interesting.
