Ukraine launched a massive drone strike on Moscow on Sunday and Russia air defence said they shot down 70, including 34 in Moscow Oblast.

The Russian Defence Ministry said the drone attack started between 7 and 10 am on Sunday morning and the shot down 14 over Bryansk Oblast, seven over Oryol and Kaluga, six in Kursk and two more over Tula Oblast.

Two of the Capital’s airports were closed and later they reopened, flights then later resumed.

Rosaviatsia, Russia’s federal air transport agency, said, “To ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights, temporary restrictions have been introduced on the operation of the Domodedovo and Zhukovo airports.”

Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, wrote on Telegram on Sunday, “The air defence forces of the Ministry of Defense in the Ramenskoye urban district repelled an attack by two drones flying to Moscow.

“According to preliminary data, there is no damage or casualties at the site of the fall of the debris. Emergency services specialists are working at the scene.”

Russia launched their largest drone attack on Ukraine as 145 drones entered Ukraine’s airspace, and they shot down 62 drones.

Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said Ukraine have increased their drone attacks on Russia over 2024 and they either destroyed or damaged around 52,000 targets inside the Russian Federation over the past month.

The General added, “Drone technology is developing rapidly, and we must be one step ahead of the enemy.”

Astra, an independent Russian news outlet, “Two residential buildings are burning at the site of the drone attack in Sofyino, Moscow Region, eyewitnesses report.”
