Officials at the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority has now approved the Coventry Building Society £780 million Co-op Bank takeover deal.

The deal will go ahead on 1 January 2025 the lenders announced on Thursday and takeover deal announced in May will create millions of customers with £89 billion in assets.

It will take a few years to join up the two businesses and there will inevitably be change over time.”
