This comes as the British Prime Minister has stated he is ready to send UK troops to Ukraine to help their planning in guaranteeing security of Europe.

Sir Keir Starmer said the UK are already leading the role in Ukraine against Vladimir Putin’s war and this “also means being ready and willing to contribute to security guarantees to Ukraine by putting our own troops on the ground, if necessary,” he wrote in the Daily Telegraph.

Starmer added, “I do not say that lightly,” saying he feels “very deeply the responsibility that comes with potentially putting British servicemen and women in harm’s way.

“But any role in helping to guarantee Ukraine’s security is helping to guarantee the security of our continent and the security of this country.”

The Washington Post has reported that the EU are planning to send between 25,000 and 30,000 troops to Ukraine to monitor the potential ceasefire.

Should Vladimir Putin agree to a sensible ceasefire with is agreed with officials in Kyiv then these peacekeepers could be sent to Ukraine.

The US has ruled out sending any troops and will leave it up to Europe to take the lead.
