The US President is to offer wealthy Russian oligarchs the “Trump gold card” for $5 million with a route to US citizenship.
On Tuesday night Donald Trump announced his idea saying that “I know some Russian oligarchs are very nice people.”
Trump said, “It’s going to be a route to citizenship, and wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card.
“They’ll be wealthy, and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes.”
He was asked by reporters if Russian oligarchs can also apply as foreigners for a visa to live in the US, Trump said, “Yeah, possibly.
“I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people.”
Trump jokingly said, “They are not as wealthy as they used to be; I think they can afford $5 million.”
Trump and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said on Tuesday they are planning to issue gold cards for wealthy individuals leading to residency.
Trump said, for “about $5 million,” the new visa will grant “green card privileges plus, it’s gonna be a route to citizenship.”
He added, “Generally speaking, it will be people with money and people that create jobs.”
