The UK has imposed fresh sanctions on a Russian entity who are responsible for transferring chemical weapons to be used in Ukraine including individuals.

Aleksey Viktorovich Rtishchev, head of Russia’s radiological chemical and biological defence troops has been sanctioned along with his deputy Andrei Marchenko who will have their assets frozen.

The Joint Stock Company Federal Scientific and Production Centre Scientific Research Institute of Applied Chemistry has also been sanctioned for supplying chemical agent grenades to the military.

The grenades being used in Ukraine is against the Chemical Weapons Convention.

The Prime Minister said the two British residents have sent over $120 million of electronics to Russia through various companies.

Sir Keir Starmer said, “We know that our sanctions are hitting hard, so while Putin shows total disregard for peace, we will not hesitate to keep tightening the screws.”
