UK car production has plummeted to its lowest level since 1953 falling 11.9% in the first half of the year.

Between January and June 31,422 vans were produced and 385,810 cars were manufactured.

Chief executive Mike Hawes of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said the figures are “depressing.”
