More than 3,000 Boeing defence workers who assemble fighter jets in Illinois walked out on Monday after they rejected a second contract.

Bowin said that the four year contract was rejected which would have increased the average wage by around 40% that included a 20% wage rise and a $5,000 ratification bonus, more holiday days, sick leave and increased periodic raises.

“We’re disappointed our employees in St. Louis rejected an offer that featured 40% average wage growth,” Dan Gillian, Boeing vice president and general manager of the St. Louis facilities, said in a statement.
