Overnight Vladimir Putin ordered the largest attack on Ukraine since the war started on 24 February 2022.

A government building was attacked in Kyiv for the first time during the war and more than 800 drones was fired at Ukraine killing a two-month-old baby and his mother and rescuers are searching for a third body.

Ukraine came under an aerial bombardment on Sunday morning with 805 drones and 13 missiles, making this the largest attack since the full-scale war started.

The upper floors of the government building was damaged including the Cabinet, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svrydenko confirmed.

She wrote on social media: “For the first time, the government building was damaged by an enemy attack, including the roof and upper floors. We will restore the buildings, but lost lives cannot be returned.

“The world must respond to this destruction not only with words, but with actions. There is a need to strengthen sanctions pressure, primarily against Russian oil and gas.”

Ukraine’s foreign minister, Andrii Sybiha called for a “strong response” from their allies as Putin is escalating their “terror.”

He wrote on social media, “For the first time, more than 800 drones and missiles overnight. Civilians killed and injured, civilian infrastructure damaged in Kyiv, Odesa, Kremenchuk, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, among other cities.

“This alone is a serious escalation. The greatest cynicism is that these brutal attacks come just as President Trump makes every effort to achieve peace.” He added that Putin instead “rejects diplomacy and escalates terror.”

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister said the attack makes a “mockery” of Washington’s peace efforts.

“Works to eliminate the consequences of the terror continues,” the Foreign Ministry said.

“This is a deliberate step by Russia to prolong the war, a conscious crime, and a mockery of peace efforts, including those of the United States.

“There must be a clear and strong response in the form of sanctions. Words have never stopped Russian drones and missiles.”
