An Air India flight which took off from Birmingham to Delhi was forced to divert to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday after the plane received a bomb threat.
The plane safely landed at Riyadh and following a security sweep of the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner nothing was found.
This is the same type of plane that crashed in Ahmedabad two weeks ago in India minutes after take-off.
A spokesperson for British Airways flight forced to turn back to Heathrow days after the Air India plane crashAir India said, “Flight AI114 from Birmingham to Delhi on June 21 received a bomb threat and was consequently diverted to Riyadh, where it landed safely and completed security checks.”
The airline added, “All passengers have been deplaned and are being provided hotel accommodation.
“The inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unforeseen disruption is sincerely regretted. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destinations.”
