The British Prime Minister is in Kyiv today visiting with President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko confirmed there was a Russian drone attack at around 10.16am on Thursday.
Air raid sirens and explosions could be heard whilst Sir Keir Starmer was in Kyiv and Klitschko told people in the city to “stay in shelters.”
During the Prime Minister’s first official trip to Kyiv anti-aircraft fire erupted and there was large booms as a Russian drone was shot down.
The noise of the drone was heard above Mariinskyi Palace which is close to President Zelensky’s office where the two leaders were holding a press conference.

The Mayor said, “In the Solomyanskyi district of the capital, a piece of UAV debris damaged a passenger car.
“It tore apart the engine and partially the car’s interior. There was no fire.
“There are no injuries at this time either.”
He added that there have been no reported injuries as a result of the Russian drone attack.
Starmer said, “Putin’s ambition to wrench Ukraine way from its closest partners has been a monumental strategic failure. Instead, we are closer than ever, and this partnership will take that friendship to the next level.
“The power of our long-term friendships [should not be] underestimated. Supporting Ukraine to defend itself from Russia’s barbaric invasion and rebuild a prosperous, sovereign future is vital to this government’s foundation of security and our plan for change.”
The British Prime Minster and Ukraine also signed a 100-year “friendship” deal which guarantees the UK will support Kyiv.
President Zelensky said, “Today is a truly historic day, our relationship is closer than ever.”
Starmer has pledged that the UK will send a new mobile air defence system to Kyiv which will be “develop to meet Ukraine’s needs.”
