How to choose Philips Hue lighting on Prime Day

Philips Hue is the biggest name in the best smart light bulbs world. While the best cheap smart light bulbs can be useful, nothing beats a full setup through Philips Hue. Crucially, with Philips Hue you need to invest in a hub which connects to your router at home. It takes moments to set up, and from there you can easily add as many light bulbs throughout the home as you need. What you do need to think about is whether you solely need a white light bulb or one that emits colors. I find most rooms are fine with a white one but a more colorful choice can be useful for select areas like a gaming room.

Related to that, think about if you need some light strips for illuminating under your TV or desk. These are more optional but a nice bonus (for a price). Most people will be happy with a Philips Hue Starter Kit so they can enjoy smart lighting in the main rooms of their house. It’s always possible to add more over time as needed. For instance, I added a light strip by my TV for some added nuance while I game.

How we chose these Philips Hue Prime Day deals

We know our way around Philips Hue technology. Many of us at Tech Reader appreciate how useful smart lighting is, and I personally use a lot of smart light bulbs at home thanks to how efficient they are. When picking deals, we always check the product is worth buying in the first place, which is almost always the case with what the Philips Hue range provides. Alongside that, we make sure that the price is right. An incremental discount isn’t so exciting, so we focus on the absolute cheapest deals around and on the latest Philips Hue products. We also keep a special eye on bundles as you can sometimes save a lot more by combining multiple Phillips Hue products. That’s particularly useful if you’re kitting out a full home, and we find the most benefit comes from extending your setup to the whole home (or at least the rooms you use most).
