During an interview with the Guardian the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 Moscow tried to assassinate him which resulted with “some killed” inside the Presidential office.

President Zelensky did not reveal if those who were killed were also Russians, Ukrainians or even both. He said that the assassination attempts happened as Moscow was pressuring the leadership in Kyiv to accept unacceptable peace conditions.

In March 2022 there was at least three assassination attempts on President Zelensky’s life and before the battle of Kyiv started Russian forces were pushing on hard towards the capital, but they were defeated.

The assassination attempts included Chechen soldiers who were shot and killed after Ukrainian officials claimed they were tipped off by members of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the Kyiv Independent reports.

“There were people who wanted to kill (me), there were gunshots, and more. Some people were killed here, inside the Presidential Office, others were defending us,” Zelensky revealed during the interview with the Guardian.

In May 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) foiled a plot to kill President Zelensky and two colonels of Ukraine‘s State Security Administration (UDO) were accused of leaking vital information to the Russia.
