Evapolar evaCHILL — $85, was $99

Evapolar

The Evapolar evaCHILL provides personal comfort on a small scale. At just 6.77 x 6.69 x 6.69 inches, it is highly portable and perfect for taking with you on camping trips or other excursions. To use it, just fill up its 800mL tank, which provides about 8 hours of continuous use (though customers report lower times for high-heat scenarios). This makes it perfect for getting to sleep. Plus, since it uses water as a source of chill, it can double as a humidifier. The Evapolar evaCHILL charges via USB cable and consumes less than 10W of power.

The Midea MAW05M1WWT is a 5,000 BTU window air conditioner that covers up to 150 square feet of room. This is considered a smart air conditioner. It has two cooling modes, two fan speeds, and a mechanical control that’s easy to use. This unit is designed to fit windows 23 inches to 36 inches wide, with a minimum height of 13 inches. Other niceties include a sleep mode, programmable timer, and a clean filter light.

Frigidaire FFRA051WAE — $159, was $179

The Frigidaire FFRA051WAE is a window AC with dimensions of 15.25 x 16 x 12 inches. Its 5,000 BTU power makes it perfect for a small bedroom of about 150 square feet. It has dials for both temperature and fan speed, which can be especially useful for night time, if you want to make it a bit quieter (on average it runs at about 52dB). Installation shouldn’t be too difficult due to the three-foot cord and, when put properly into your window, there shouldn’t be any extra dust or bugs in your room. This is due to the AC unit’s side panels and internal dust filter.

GE 250 Sq. Ft., 6,000 BTU — $230, was $250

The GE 250 sq. ft. 6,000 BTU air conditioner on display.

What’s in a name? As we’ll see with a lot of GE units, just about everything. This is a window unit that cools 250 square foot rooms, which might mean a medium-sized bedroom or small living room. It stands 12.56 inches tall and is 16.43 inches wide. Its major features are a remote control and an “eco mode” that acts like a thermostat, turning off the unit when the room is already cool enough.

GE 450 Sq. Ft., 10,000 BTU — $350, was $400

A model that is very similar to the GE above, but for a medium-sized room and with some upgraded features. Again, the key stats are in the name. While most things are the same, here are the key differences:

GE Smart Portable Air Conditioner — $500, was $560

This GE provides smart, fast, and more effective evaporative cooling. It is rated for 450 square feet rooms and dispenses air at a rate of 185 cubic feet per minute. People find that this unit is able to cool their adequately-sized rooms within just a few minutes. Though this is a portable unit, do be aware of its size (24.75 x 15.25 x 14 inches) and its 51.6 pound weight. You’ll want to find a good spot for it and not move it too often. It is perfect for rooms where you’re uncomfortable keeping the window unlocked for a window unit, such as the bedroom of your child that sleeps downstairs.

GE 700 Sq. Ft., 14,000 BTU — $500, was $540

The form factor for GE window ACs for medium and large rooms.
.

Finally, a GE window AC for large rooms! Like the previous models, most of the features are in the name. This model also contains advanced features like voice control and built-in WiFi. It is made for windows that can reach 15.56 inches high and have a width between 26.13 and 37.75 inches wide.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP7A — $500, was $650

The Dyson Hot+Cool HP7A uses the same technology many high quality Dyson air purifiers use to capture and filter debris from your air, but it’s also capable of keeping the room cool. It’s modestly sized but can still cover a lot of square footage. The fan blows out both cold and hot air, so you can keep it around during colder months as well. It has several different operation modes, including a quiet mode to use while you’re sleeping and a maximum mode when you’re out during the day.

Dyson Purifier Cool TP07 — $618, was $650

Dyson

Dyson is highly regarded for its modern designs, and while the Dyson Cool TP07 is an air purifier at heart, it can also go a long way toward keeping a room cool. Everything Dyson makes is top-notch, including fans, hair curlers, blow dryers, and air purifiers, and that’s the reason why the brand is featured heavily in our top air purifiers for mold issues. It has a lot of power so that it can suck in micro-sized debris from far away. It uses a two-stage filtration process that traps the debris inside, and then it cycles air out through its powerful bladeless fan, cooling up to 1,000 square feet.
