After Sir Keir Starmer’s badly-timed stumble on his way to the Commons on Wednesday, PMQs, body language expert Inbaal Honigman has revealed signs the Prime Minister was more flustered than he let on.

Speaking on behalf of Fruity King, Inbaal explains that while Starmer ‘straightened himself up quickly’ after he appeared to trip over his own feet, he was very careful ‘not to give anything away’ to the press.

She goes on to note Starmer’s ‘feigned smile’ and ‘protective arm’ helped to create a ‘protective stance’ after the embarrassing moment was caught on camera.

Honigman has analysed the Prime Minister’s reaction after he nearly took a tumble on his way out of No10 on Wednesday.

Body language expert Inbaal Honigman has revealed Keir Starmer flashed a ‘media smile’ to try and reassure press ‘all was okay’ after a blunder on the way to PMQs earlier on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister appeared to trip over his own feet as he waved at reporters, and while he ‘straightened himself up quickly’, he was very careful ‘not to give anything away’ to the press.

She goes on to note Starmer’s ‘feigned smile’ and ‘protective arm’ helped to create a ‘protective stance’ after the embarrassing moment was caught on camera.

Speaking on behalf of Fruity King, Honigman said, “Starmer walks through the door, with his eyes already on the awaiting press, and a ‘media smile’ plastered onto his face. His expression isn’t that of happiness, it is a fixed mask which is intended to communicate the reassuring message that ‘all is OK’.

“We see the Prime Minister holding his dossiers with both hands, when one arm would have been sufficient.

“The extra hand covering his body is creating a protective stance. Between the feigned smile and the protective arm, Starmer’s body language suggests he’s not willing to give everything away.

“The Prime Minister straightens himself quickly, righting his legs mid-fall, and raises his head, smiling at the press again, trying to send the message that everything is fine.”
