Under Donald Trump’s alleged peace plan for Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine British forces could be sent to enforce the buffer zone on Kyiv’s 800 miles frontline.

It is understood Trump has told his office that European troops will operate on the buffer zone and Washington will pull out all US forces and equipment once the lines are frozen and the war has come to an end.

Trump’s team told the Wall Street Journal last week, “We can do training and other support but the barrel of the gun is going to be European. We are not sending American men and women to uphold peace in Ukraine.

“And we are not paying for it. Get the Poles, Germans, British and French to do it,” The Telegraph reported.

Orban warns ‘Europe can’t finance this war on its own’ so the war might be lost

Trump said after a meeting with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York in September, “If we have a win, long before Jan. 20, before I would take the presidency, long before that, I think we could work out something that is good for both sides,” this is looking very unlikely.

The former Chancellor George Osborne said it is “unrealistic” that the UK can back Ukraine without the support from Washington.

He said, “Is it realistic to expect a complete victory for Ukraine, the complete ejection of Russia from Ukrainian territory? And if it’s not, you know, it may suit our vanity in the West to say ‘plucky Ukrainians’, [but] it’s not our children who are dying.

“It’s also totally unrealistic, in my view, to think that Europe alone, including the UK, can go on supporting Ukraine without the support of the United States, even though Joe Biden actually is rushing to spend the $61 billion that Congress recently voted in terms of American aid for Ukraine before he leaves office.”

The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that the US will “get out of this war” now that Donald Trump is set to take power in January 2025.

Orban said on Friday that Ukraine is losing this war and without the US “Europe can’t finance” this war on their own.

Hungary has continuously blocked aid for Ukraine and Orban has been pushing for peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow.

Orban who is pro-Vladimir Putin has offered to be the negotiator between Kyiv and Moscow, he has called on Europe to commit to a “ceasefire and peace talks,” the Kyiv Independent reports.

In October the Hungarian Prime Minister said Western leaders are losing the war in Ukraine and do not want to admit to failure.
