The Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has issued a warning to British nationals who are in Qatar to “shelter in place until further notice.”

Two US officials have warned that Washington believes Iran is set to carry out strikes US forces in the next day or two, Reuters reported.

The US President Donald Trump warned Iran against any retaliation saying it will be “met with force far greater than what was witnessed” this past weekend.

US Embassy in Qatar warned in a statement, “Out of an abundance of caution we recommend American citizens shelter in place until further notice,” they have not provided any further information.

The British Foreign Office website reads, “Following a US security alert for US nationals in Qatar, out of an abundance of caution, we recommend that British nationals in Qatar shelter in place until further notice.

“Follow instructions from local authorities and international partners, and will provide further updates as the situation develops.”

On Monday the Defence Secretary has placed British military bases across the Middle East and in Cyprus on their “highest level” of readiness for any potential attack following the US airstrikes on Iran.

The Telegraph reported that there are fears the US attack which “obliterated” three Iranian nuclear sites could trigger a wider conflict.

This month Sir Keir Starmer sent warplanes to the Middle East following Tehran threatening to attack UK’s military bases and ships should they get involved with Israel attacking Iranian nuclear sites.

Tehran has threatened economic and military war across the Midde East including the UK and other parts of the world.

Iran’s state-owned Mehr News Agency issued a grave warning, “Any country that participates in repelling Iran’s attacks on Israel will be subject to Iranian forces targeting all regional bases of the complicit government, including military bases in the Persian Gulf countries and ships and naval vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.”

Sir Keir Starmer said the UK is sending more military assets to the Middle East to provide “contingency support” as conflict between Iran and Israel ramps up.

On Sunday the Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the British military is prepared for any Iranian retaliation.

Reynolds told GB News, “A lot of people will be getting up, having their breakfast and wondering, ‘what does this mean?’”

“While Britain’s armed forces have not been involved, we have been preparing for some time for all eventualities,” Reynolds added.
