Beijing is preparing for a potential war with Taipei as China has surrounded Taiwan and are conducting live military drills.
China has deployed warships and fighter jets encircling Taiwan and are simulating strikes on sea and land targets.
This is the sixth time Beijing has conducted military drills surrounding Taiwan as they claim the territory belongs to China.
Beijing warned Washington that if there is any interference with Taiwan they will “be met with a firm counterattack.”
China’s foreign ministry issued a warning, “Any act of provocation on the Taiwan issue will surely be met with a firm counterattack from the Chinese side.
The ministry was asked if the latest blockade of Taiwan, has been provoked by Washington, the spokesperson added, “China’s defence of national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity is unswerving.
Hsieh Jih-sheng, deputy chief of the general staff for intelligence at Taiwan’s defence ministry, told Reuters, “Our armed forces operate on the principle of preparing for the worst and must take every possible scenario into account.
Conducting live-fire exercises around the Taiwan Strait…would not only constitute military pressure on us, but could also pose more complex challenges and impacts for the international community and neighbouring countries.
In response to today’s #PLA aircraft and naval activity, the #ROCArmedForces conducted Rapid Response Exercises and closely monitored the situation. Joint sea and air operations with all services and the Taiwan Coast Guard remain on high alert. #FullAwareness pic.twitter.com/urRlOh4cUL

Taiwan’s Defence Ministry said that they have deployed their military in response and said that the Chinese Communist Party is “an aggressor and the biggest destroyer of peace.”
The military blockade comes after Washington sold weapons to Taiwan and Japan’s Prime Minister Sanar Takaichi said that his military could also get involved should China take action against Taiwan.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said, “We stress once again that the Taiwan question is at the very core of China’s core interests and the first red line that must not be crossed in China-US relations.
“Any company or individual who engages in arms sales to Taiwan will pay the price for the wrongdoing.
