CIA warns ‘Ukraine is running out of ammunition’ as Russia could be close to a breakthrough

The chief of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has warned that Ukraine “is running out of ammunition” and we must act as the US is “running out of time” to help Kyiv.

The US President Joe Biden has announced a $300 million emergency weapons package, however Congress are putting the brakes on to send further aid.

Biden, 81, said that this stopgap aid package will “not nearly enough” for Ukrainian forces which will only last around 14 days.

Ukraine is vastly outgunned and outmanned against Russian forces and US Congress Republicans are blocking a $60 billion military aid package for Kyiv.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan warned that Ukraine is now at the most perilous situation since the war started as Russia have made a series of key gains and Vladimir Putin could be close to a breakthrough.

Biden said, “We must act before it literally is too late,”

“Russia won’t stop at Ukraine. Putin will keep going, putting Europe, the United States and the entire free world at risk,” the US President added.

“Ukraine is not running out of courage and tenacity — they’re running out of ammunition. And we’re running out of time to help them,” CIA Director William Burns told Congress.

Poland who are one of Kyiv’s staunchest allies will hold emergency talks over Ukraine in Berlin on Friday with the leaders of France and Germany.

The Polish Prime Minister told state broadcaster TVP, “On Friday… I will be in Berlin with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to talk about this situation.”

In my opinion, these three capitals have the task and the power to mobilise all of Europe” to provide Ukraine with fresh aid, Tusk said.

The Polish President Andrzej Duda has called on all NATO members to increase their defence spending to 3% of their GDP in order to match Russia’s spending, which comes as Warsaw are now on a war footing.
