Creating new things requires being “in the moment”. But what is that exactly supposed to mean?
Information society: A new format of existing
Out of the 8 billion people in the world, approximately 66% have access to the Internet. Having the Internet gives you unlimited access to knowledge, and knowledge is a power that can change many aspects of life. How can this asset be utilised?
Future of education in the present time
Currently, the aspect of digitality in everyday life is still overlooked. People talk about the dangers that come with AI, about memes or the latest trends on TikTok. But it’s worth paying attention to the opportunities the Internet provides – creating a collaborative knowledge base accessible to people around the world.
However, acquiring knowledge doesn’t have to rely solely on gathering information. In many fields, contact with people and physical engagement is needed. An example of this kind of field can be technical engineering.
Transfer Multisort Elektronik (TME), a family-owned Polish company, focuses on distributing electrical goods worldwide. Founded in the 1990s as communism was ending in Poland, TME seized new opportunities to make an export hub for vendors and their products. Years later, due to the rapid development of the company and the social responsibility that came with it, which went beyond the country’s borders, the fact of the inextricable and increasingly growing connections between technology and everyday life needed to be addressed. As the result, the company has launched a project dedicated to supporting practical and accessible education, particularly in Africa and India.
And that is how TME Education has come to life. Its main goal is providing development opportunities for those who may not have access to it. Some of the core activities are organising training session for people interested in electronics, providing equipment for workshops and gathering creative minds together regardless of age, gender or financial status.
Harvesting ideas and putting them into making innovations
Creating is one thing, but making a change in the world is a whole new level of innovation. A key factor in creation is people – belonging to a group, sharing information, exchanging feedback, and brainstorming.
Community Changemakers is an example of creating a safe space that transforms technological and electronics abilities into real and tangible innovations that serve local communities in their everyday lives. TME Education’s ambassadors – its team members and workshop teachers – has proven not once that between a new idea and its implementation into reality, there is really no obstacle that would prevent someone who is motivated to change the world. By constructing surprising and useful projects, like a remote irrigation system, a portable refrigerator powered by solar energy, a filament extractor for 3D printers, a free sanitary pads dispenser and many others, they demonstrate technology is ubiquitous in everyday life, and when properly directed, it substantially changes people’s lives.
Apart from that, TME Education also engages in international events. An example of that is co-organizing Arduino Day in over 20 African countries and in India. Competitions and activities focused on Arduino technology are but one side of the coin – because by gathering people together the most important thing is building unity and integrating in one common world of electronics that does not exclude anybody.
Being present and creative on a worldwide scale
Many people involved in technology prefer working in solitude. It is estimated that over 50% of the world’s population prefers an introverted lifestyle. However, that doesn’t mean their ideas don’t reach beyond their space – quite the opposite. Many “homemade” ideas are developed on a global scale.
An example of a creative space allowing the development of skills is the Tech Master Event. Over the past 3 years, they have organised over 25 contests dedicated to various themes related to technical engineering.
Joining these competitions is possible for people from all over the world: Europe, Asia, Africa, or Americas. The prizes for these competitions are cash rewards that winners can invest in their development. The Tech Master Event website currently has over 1400 users, which supports the development of an online community fostering growth.
In today’s digital age, the ability to create and innovate is greatly enhanced by the accessibility of the Internet and collaborative initiatives. Programs like TME Education and Initiatives such as Tech Master Event demonstrate the power of providing resources and support to foster creativity and practical skills worldwide. By leveraging these opportunities, individuals can make significant contributions and drive change on a global scale, proving that even small, solitary ideas can grow into world-changing innovations.
