Denmark has announced that they are planning to increase conscription and to call up women, the Prime Minister has said.
Denmark who are strong allies with Ukraine and are part of NATO and said the conscription will increase from four months to 11 months and will rearm to “avoid war.”
Mette Frederiksen said on Wednesday, “We do not rearm because we want war. We are rearming because we want to avoid it,” he added, that the government wants ”full equality between the sexes.”
Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the Danish Foreign Minister, insists that Russia does not pose any threat to Denmark.

“But we will not bring ourselves to a place where they could come to do that,” Rasmussen added.
Denmark has around 9,000 troops plus some 4,700 conscripts who are undergoing basic training, official figures show.
The Danish government are wanting to increase this number up by 300 to hit a total of 5,000.
Currently 18 year old’s are called up for national service, because the country has enough volunteers, Denmark has a lottery system for men to be called up.
To call up more women and increase the service time the Danish government will have to make a change in law, this will happen next year and come into effect in 2026.
Troels Lund Poulsen, the Defence Minister said, the security policy across Europe “has become more and more serious, and we have to take that into account when we look at future defence.”
He added, “A broader basis for recruiting that includes all genders is needed.”
This will help to create “a more versatile and more complete defence.”
