We’ve been live at LG Electronics’ CES 2026 press conference – dubbed a ‘world premiere’ – and it was mostly a chance to show off Cloid, LG’s home robot that is meant to be its vision of the future.

The big consumer news is the new Wallpaper TV that’s only 9mm thin – it’s meant to be truly wireless, but there doesn’t seem to be any talk about power needs, so surely that will still need a cable?

But Cloid was the ‘star’ of the show, a prototype robot that will interact with your LG appliances through the power of connectivity and AI. It was a very smooth and controlled presentation – at one point, Cloid had to put a towel in a washing machine and it took a fair few seconds (compared to just, you know, putting it in yourself) but it felt like the seed of where this could all go.

There was a few other things to think about from the ‘world premiere’ – with the automotive stuff looking impressive, it a little fantastical – and it shows that LG is all about positioning itself as a leading supplier of home electronics and trying to demonstrate its growing power in the robotics industry too.

I still don’t know why Cloid has such massive hands though.
