The British government have sanctioned four Israeli settlers who have bee accused of committing human rights abuses in the West Bank.

The Foreign Office issued a travel and visa ban on Moshe Sharvit, Yinon Levy, Zvi Bar Yosef and Ely Federman who have also had their assets frozen for abuses against Palestinians in West Bank.

The Foreign Office accused Israel for their “failure to act” that has led to an environment of near total impunity for settler extremists” in the West Bank that hit record levels last year.

The Foreign Office said that Sharvit is an extremist settlerand has threatened, assaulted and harassed Palestinian shepherds and their families in the Jordan Valley.

Levy who is the leader of the “Meitarim Farm” outpost that was founded in 2021 has been accused of physical violence and destruction of property and displacing Palestinian communities.

Yosef who is a settler leader set up the “Zvi’s Farm” outpost in 2018 and stands accused of violence against Palestinians and threatening families at gun point.

Federman is an extremist settler who has been accused of many attacks on Palestinian shepherds in the South Hebron Hills.

Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron said on Monday, “Today’s sanctions place restrictions on those involved in some of the most egregious abuses of human rights. We should be clear about what is happening here.

“Extremist Israeli settlers are threatening Palestinians, often at gunpoint, and forcing them off land that is rightfully theirs.

“This behaviour is illegal and unacceptable. Israel must also take stronger action and put a stop to settler violence. Too often, we see commitments made and undertakings given, but not followed through.

“Extremist settlers, by targeting and attacking Palestinian civilians, are undermining security and stability for both Israelis and Palestinians.”
