The head of German intelligence, Martin Jaeger has warned on Monday that Russia is ready to test Europe’s borders and escalate tensions.

This comes as Western officials have been warning of the Kremlin’s hybrid operations across Europe with sabotage attacks, drone and fighter jet incursions and the cyberattacks, which has also been blamed on Jaguar Land Rover in the UK halting production.

Jaeger said on Monday, “We can’t simply wait and assume that a potential Russian attack won’t come before 2029.

“We’re already under fire today.”

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has also warned that Russia is ready for an open war with the alliance within the next five years.

The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Russia’s ongoing hybrid warfare against Europe proved that the European Union is no longer at peace, the Kyiv Independent reported.

Speaking to German parliament, Jaeger told the Bundestag, “Russia is concealing its true intentions, but in fact it’s probing our borders.

At best, Europe is in a state of cold peace — one that could flare into a hot confrontation at any moment.

The head of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND) warned Vladimir Putin will see Europe’s restraint as pure weakness, he added, “We must confront our adversaries wherever necessary.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko warned on Sunday that he believes Ukraine could “cease to exist as a state” unless the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “sits down, negotiated, and acts urgently.”

Lukashenko told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin he believes that “the problem is not with the United States… nor with Russia… but rather in Volodymyr Zelensky.”

“Actions must be taken urgently,” Lukashenko said.

“Russia is advancing on the front line, and I say this responsibly, because I observe this every day, and it could lead to the disappearance of Ukraine as a state.”

Lukashenko warned the situation for Ukraine is “very serious” and he is urging for dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow.

Lukashenko then hit out at the US President sending Tomahawk missiles, he said, “Our friend Donald (Trump) has a certain tactic for dealing with the most pressing issues.

“That is why he sometimes puts pressure on the relevant authorities and people, sometimes acts more harshly, and then eases up a little and steps back.”
