The German air force have ordered 75 powerful US JASSM-ER long-range missiles in preparation to be “war ready” due to the growing threat of conflict between NATO and Russia.

The 75 US missiles cost around €8 billion have a range of 900km which is almost the range of the Taurus missile systems.

The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz along with other MPs have refused to send the Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

The German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has said that Berlin are is “kriegstüchtig” [war-ready] as funds for the German army have been increased in preparation for conflict between Berlin and Moscow.

It was previously reported by German media that Scholz is in talks with the UK to send them the Taurus missiles so that it will be Britain that sends them onto Ukraine along with Storm Shadow missiles.

If Germany does get the JASSM-ER missiles these will then be fitted to their F-35 stealth fighter jets.
