Greggs is adding a chicken version of its iconic sausage roll to menus nationwide, expanding its offering with a new permanent product.
The “Chicken Roll,” described as seasoned chicken wrapped in crisp, golden puff pastry, will go on sale from Thursday, priced at £1.35 and containing 305 calories.
It joins the bakery chain’s traditional Sausage Roll and its pork-free Vegan Roll, forming what the company has dubbed a “trilogy.”
To mark the launch, Greggs is hosting a one-day pop-up event in Soho, giving customers an early chance to try the new item.
The event will take place on Wednesday, April 8, at 15 Bateman Street from 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis, with guests required to attend in groups of three in keeping with the trilogy theme.
Visitors will be offered three complimentary rolls along with a themed cocktail or mocktail.
A Greggs spokeswoman said: “They say the best things come in threes, and our iconic roll trilogy is no exception.
“We can’t wait for our customers to experience the Chicken Roll as the ultimate headline act of our flaky franchise.”
