Jennifer Salke, Amazon’s head of film and television, is stepping down from her position after seven years on the job, the company said on Thursday.

In a surprise move, Ms. Salke will move into a producing deal at Amazon and will not be replaced.

“Jen has decided that her next challenge and chapter will be on the production side, with the aim of getting even closer to the global creative community,” Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said in a staff memo.

Mr. Hopkins added that with Ms. Salke’s departure, he had decided to have the company operate distinct film and television studios.

Courtenay Valenti will oversee film while Vernon Sanders will oversee television. Both will report to Mr. Hopkins.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
