Hollywood actor and director Rob Reiner and his wife have been found stabbed to dead in their home in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Los Angeles Police robbery and homicide division are investigating the murders, Los Angeles Times reported.
The couple were found at their $13.5 million Brentwood mansion by their daughter Roby, the People magazine reported.
Reiner is known for his movies in the 1980s and 90s, he made A Few Good Men, The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally, which starred Billy Crystal
The Sun reported that the couple had knife wounds to their throats as it has been reported an argument broke out and there is now a police investigation to the murders.
The PEOPLE reported that the son Nick, 32, is being questioned by homicide detectives.
The captain of LAPD, Mike Bland confirmed they are investigating an “apparent homicide,” it has also been reported there is no signs of a forced entry.
LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said, “We’re going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation.”
He added, “[We are] not seeking anyone as a suspect, or as a person of interest or in any other manner, and we will not be doing that until we conduct our investigation and move forward … No one has been detained … No one is being interviewed.”
Reiner’s eldest daughter said to NBC News, “I came from the greatest family ever. I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.” The family had also issued a statement after the tragedy, telling Variety: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
Tributes have been pouring in for Reiner, Hollywood actor Ben Stiller said, “Rob Reiner was one of my favorite directors. He made some of the most formative movies for my generation. He was a kind caring person who was really really funny.
“I didn’t know him well but was always a fan and I feel a real sadness for those who did, and his family.”
US actor James Woods was friends with Reiner since they made the film Ghosts Of Mississippi in 1996.
He wrote on social media, “The studio didn’t think I was old enough to do the part, but Rob fought for me.
“Political differences never stood in the way of our love and respect for each other. I am devastated by this terrible event.”
Elijah Wood wrote: “Horrified to hear of the passing of Rob Reiner and his wonderful wife Michelle. So much love to their kids and family.”
