Iran has issued a two-word challenge to the Pentagon after their announcement they will deploy 3,000 troops to the Middle East.

Admiral Ahmadian, speaking on behalf of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, declared that Tehran has spent “over two decades” preparing for asymmetric warfare against the technologically superior U.S. military.

Admiral Ahmadian stated, “Just one message for the American soldiers: Come closer.” He emphasised that Iran has been ready for years to counter any foreign forces entering designated areas, highlighting the country’s ongoing training and strategic planning.

This warning comes as the Pentagon is poised to confirm the deployment of an 82nd Airborne Division brigade combat team, a rapid-deployment unit capable of mobilising within 18 hours, with a full brigade ready within 72 hours.

Details regarding the timing and operational objectives of this mission remain unclear.

On March 13, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth approved a request from U.S. Central Command to deploy an amphibious ready group along with a Marine Expeditionary Unit, which includes multiple warships and approximately 5,000 Marines and sailors, according to three U.S. officials.

NBC reported that an additional 2,500 Marines and 2,500 sailors are set to be deployed aboard the USS San Diego, USS Tripoli, and USS New Orleans.

The increased troop presence signifies a dramatic escalation in the Middle East conflict and raises the likelihood of American ground forces entering Iran. Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command announced that air and missile operations have destroyed over 9,000 Iranian military targets.

Despite these strikes, Tehran has continued drone and ballistic missile attacks on Israel and neighbouring states throughout the week, indicating a persistence of hostilities.

This standoff highlights a tense military situation, with Iran signalling its readiness to confront American forces while Washington positions troops and assets to maintain pressure on Tehran amid the ongoing conflict in the region.
