Some fundraising efforts aim high. Others reach deep into the heart of human resilience.

This summer, deVere Group’s Investment Director, James Green, is undertaking one of his most physically and emotionally demanding challenges yet.

He’ll navigate 80 kilometres through the wild, awe-inspiring landscapes of Norway’s fjords, a journey that will test every ounce of strength, determination, and resolve. With each stroke through freezing glacial waters and every climb across unforgiving terrain, Green is pushing himself far beyond comfort in pursuit of something greater.

Fjords for Change is more than an expedition.  It’s a powerful commitment. James is trading boardrooms for blistered hands, and spreadsheets for survival gear.

His mission? To raise vital funds for the Katie Piper Foundation, an organisation that supports survivors of burns and traumatic scarring, helping them regain confidence, independence, and dignity.

“I wanted to challenge myself physically and mentally in a way that echoes, however faintly, the daily challenges that survivors face long after their physical injuries heal,” James explained in his fundraising appeal. “This cause deserves something big, something unforgettable.”

Green’s journey begins in the icy embrace of Norway’s fjords, a place of ancient glaciers, biting winds, and untamed beauty. He’s facing what most would consider insurmountable: powerful tides, unpredictable weather, and the crushing physical toll of long-distance kayaking.

The average August temperature in Norway’s fjords? A bracing 10°C (50°F), and that’s before the rain and wind pick up.

But this isn’t just a wilderness adventure. It’s a battle cry for visibility. Every stroke of the paddle is a statement: burn survivors deserve more. More access, more habilitation, and more chances to live life fully.

The Katie Piper Foundation, founded by the inspirational TV presenter and philanthropist who herself survived an acid attack, is a beacon of hope for hundreds who suffer in silence.

“Rehabilitation after burns is about so much more than healing wounds,” Katie Piper said. “It’s about rebuilding lives.”

That’s what deVere’s James Green is fundraising for with this challenge.

Each pound raised represents renewed hope, a step toward long-term therapy for a survivor, or a stay at the foundation’s specialist rehabilitation centre. Donations fund everything from physical therapy to psychological support, services often underfunded or inaccessible to those most in need.

deVere Group has proudly backed the mission, sharing James’ challenge across platforms and encouraging a wave of support. It’s a testament to what happens when personal conviction meets corporate conscience, and when courage extends beyond the office walls.

“I’m not doing this because it’s easy,” James added. “I’m doing it because what survivors go through is unimaginably harder. If this adventure can spark even a few more conversations, a few more donations, then it’s worth every bruise, blister, and cold night in a tent.”

Supporters can follow James’ journey and contribute through his dedicated fundraising page. It’s a deeply personal voyage of empathy, endurance, and hope.
