“Steadfast Noon is an important test of the Alliance’s nuclear deterrent and sends a clear message to any adversary that NATO will protect and defend all Allies.”

The drills involve 2,000 military personnel across eight air bases and includes the B-52 long-range nuclear bombers, fighter escorts, refuelling aircraft along with warplanes used for reconnaissance.

The Kremlin has yet again kicked up a fuss saying this nuclear exercise is escalating tensions.

The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, “Given the ‘hot war’ phase of the Ukrainian conflict, such drills will certainly lead to nothing but a further escalation of tensions.”

The flights will take place over the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark the North Sea and across most of northern England and Scotland.
