Lidl has confirmed on Wednesday that they are to open 19 stores across England over the next two months and will create around 640 jobs.
The German discount supermarket is now the sixth largest grocery chain in the UK and revealed plans to invest around £40 million to refurbish more than 70 of their current stores.
Lidl will install larger freezers and new tills and by the end of February they want to have a further 40 stores.
Richard Taylor, chief real estate officer at Lidl GB, said, “We’re starting the new year as we mean to go on, with a major investment that reinforces our commitment to delivering the best experience for customers and creating a positive impact for the communities we serve.
“With this push, we’re set on winning more shoppers across the nation and claiming an even bigger share of the market.”
