The Russian Security Council Deputy chairman Dmitry Medvedev said that Moscow has to ramp up their efforts to stop Ukraine joining NATO.

During the NATO summit in Washington DC it was said that the alliance “will continue to support it [Ukraine] on its irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including NATO membership.”

In response Medvedev said, “One thing is for certain. We must do all we can to make sure that Ukraine’s ‘irreversible path’ to NATO ends in the demise of either Ukraine or NATO. Or – even better – both.”

The former Russian President also admitted that Russia will “crush” all of Ukraine even if Kyiv does agree to Vladimir Putin’s peace deal.

Medvedev said that Russia will “drive a long steel nail into the coffin” of Ukraine even if Kyiv does agree to surrender most of the eastern territory.

Medvedev asked on Telegram, “what if they [Ukraine] take and accept” the peace deal?

“This will not be the end of Russia’s military operation. Even after signing the papers and accepting defeat, the remaining part of the radicals, after a regrouping of forces, will sooner or later return to power, inspired by Russia’s Western enemies.

“And then the time will come to finally crush the reptile. Drive a long steel nail into the coffin of Bandera’s quasi-state,” making reference to Ukrainian nationalist Stepan Bandera in WWII.

Medvedev added, “Destroy the remnants of his bloody legacy and return the remaining lands to the bosom of the Russian land.
