Home Office figures shows that more than 25,000 migrants “mainly young men” have so far crossed the English Channel this year in small boats after 898 came to Britain’s shores on Wednesday.
Last year 37,000 come to the UK, 25% more than year before and it has been predicted Britain could have around 50,000 cross the Channel this year.
Chris Philp MP, Shadow Home Secretary, said, “Almost 900 people crossed the Channel yesterday, meaning 25,000 people, mainly young men, have crossed the Channel this year.
“2025 is the worst year on record so far and the Labour Government are doing nothing to stop the crossings. This is now a national emergency.
“Their 17 in one out deal with France will not even make a dent – it would take ten years for Yvette Cooper to deport the illegal immigrants that have arrived since the start of this year alone under her so-called deal which still hasn’t started.

On Wednesday all French border patrol and lifeboats are escorting migrants across the Channel and British RNLI boats from Dungness, Walmer, Ramsgate and Dover are dealing with vast amount of the number of migrants crossing the ocean to claim asylum in the UK.
GB News was told by a senior maritime security source, “The situation out there is complete chaos.
It’s clear yet again, Border Force just can’t cope with the numbers attempting to cross today.
They’ve had to call on very significant resources from the lifeboat service.
The RNLI get a lot of flak for responding to migrant boats, but it’s hard to see what else they can reasonably do.
“These boats are completely overloaded. And if Border Force don’t have the resources to respond, someone has to.”
The Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and hit out at the RNLI calling them a “taxi service” for illegal migrants.
