A Russian drone fully laden with “explosives” crashed in a NATO country over the weekend and NATO has slammed Moscow over their “potentially dangerous” act.
Latvia who is a member of NATO have no evidence the act was intentional and have no further information at this time.
The Latvian defence ministry statement the Russia drone fell in the region of the Gaigalava village some 60 miles from the Belarusian border.
NATO spokesperson Farah Dakhlallah said in a commentary to Interfax-Ukraine on Monday, “Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russian drone fragments and missiles have been found on Allied territory on several occasions.

“While we have no information indicating an intentional attack by Russia against Allies, these acts are irresponsible and potentially dangerous.”
Latvia’s armed forces commander Lieutenant General Leonids Kalnins said on Monday during a conference that the drone was an Iranian designed Shahed and the explosives was deactivated.
The Romanian Defence Ministry also announced that a Russian drone entered their airspace and a “radar supervision system identified and tracked the path” of the aircraft “which entered national airspace and then exited towards Ukraine.”
On Sunday NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana said Russia’s acts are “irresponsible and potentially dangerous.”
