Vladimir Putin has said he intends to rewrite the borders with Lithuania and Finland in a “sea grab.”

The territorial waters around Malyi Tyuters, Vigrund, the Island of Sommers, Jahi, Rodsher and Gogland including the north cape of Narva River which is close to the state border with Finland could be redrawn.

Putin wants to redraw the sea map of the Curonian Spit which is between Lithuania and Russia, the Vistula Spit between Russia and Poland and also the Taran Cape.

The Russian Defence Ministry has said that the current maritime map does not “fully correspond to the current geographic situation” prior to the Soviet union breaking.

The Ministry said that the geographical charts were signed in a decree of the USSR Ministers Council in 1985, this was “based on small-scale nautical navigation maps” which does not correspond with the “modern geographical situation.”

The Ministry has warned that the geographical coordinates “do not allow to determine the external border of the internal sea waters” of Russia.

The Soviet Cabinet’s old resolution of the Baltic Sea region will declared “invalid” by Moscow.

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister has called Moscow’s actions as an “obvious escalation” which will be met with an “appropriate firm response.”

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said according to Swedish news agency TT, “Both we and Finland assume that Russia which is a signatory party to that convention — lives up to that responsibility.”

Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said, according to Finnish broadcaster YLE that if Moscow attempts to challenge the sea map borders then Russia will violate “a UN convention, then Russia has the whole world against it.”

This comes as Russia has started training for the “use of nuclear weapons” which comes after the West has made so called “threats.”

The Russian Ministry of Defence wrote on Telegram, “In accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the first stage of the exercise with practical testing of the preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons began in the Southern Military District under the leadership of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

Officials said, “the personnel of the missile formations of the Southern Military District are practising combat training tasks of obtaining special ammunition for the Iskander operational-tactical missile system, equipping launch vehicles with them and covertly advancing to the designated position area in preparation for missile launches.

They added, “The personnel of the aviation units of the Russian Aerospace Forces involved in the exercise practice equipping aviation weapons with special warheads, including the Kinzhal aeroballistic hypersonic missiles, and flying into designated patrol areas.”

Russian MP Lt-Gen Andrey Gurulev warned, “If the [West] are underestimating [Russian resolve], then there will probably come a moment….when this nuclear strike will smash someone over the head quite seriously….

We are talking about….the integrity and independence of the state.

“The Nazism that has developed in Ukraine with the help of the West is a threat to us.

“If the West is going to develop this Nazism further by helping Ukraine, then I think it is a direct threat to our independence and integrity on our side.”
