The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a warning to Washington against getting involved in the war against Iran.

US officials have said the US President is considering a military strike on Iran and Trump is has had a meeting with the national security team at the Situation Room, they told NBC News.

Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergey Naryshkin said the “situation is critical” and said they are in touch with intelligence agencies in Israel and Iran.

He said, “We are in contact with representatives of both sides of the conflict: with representatives of the respective special intelligence services of both Iran and Israel.”

Russia’s Interfax news agency said Deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov warned, “This would be a step that would radically destabilise the entire situation.”

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday Israel has made a “huge mistake” and has vowed they will be “punished,” adding they will not forget the blood of the “martyrs.”

Mehr News Agency said the Ayatollah “praised the steadfast, courageous, and timely behavior of the Iranian nation.”

Khamenei warned “any US military intervention will undoubtedly cause irreparable damage,” verbally attacking Donald Trump over his “threatening and ridiculous statements.”

The Iranian foreign ministry warned that should the US intervene in the region this will be “a recipe for all-out war” in the Middle East, Esmail Baghaei said in an interview with Al Jazeera.

Baghaei was asked if he believes the US can control Israel, he said, “Not really.”

Iranian ambassador to the United Nations Ali Bahreini said they “will not show any reluctance in defending our people, security and land, we will respond seriously and strongly, without restraint.”
