Vladimir Putin is preparing to “double” the number of troops on the NATO border which could signal a potential conflict with the alliance, according to Estonia’s foreign intelligence.

The threat of a worldwide conflict seems to be edging closer weekly as Putin is doubling the number of troops on the border with the Baltic states and Finland.

Kaupo Rosin, director-general of the Estonian service, said at the moment Moscow is not “willing to conduct any military actions towards NATO.”

Rosin has warned that Russia’s appetite for military expansion outside of Ukraine is growing and could happen within the next 10 years.

Rosin said, “Russians are planning to increase their military force along the Baltic states’ border but also the Finnish border.

“We will highly likely see an increase of manpower, about doubling perhaps. We will see an increase in armed personnel carriers, tanks, artillery systems over the coming years.”

According to the Estonian intelligence report Putin putting more troops on Finland’s border could consist of “two or three manoeuvre units with around a dozen fire support and combat support units.”

Last month Norway’s defence chief has warned that they must prepare for war to invest more into our defence and we have “perhaps three” years as conflict with Russia is increasing.

The chief of Norway’s armed forces, General Eirik Kristoffersen has said the government needs to “invest more” money into their defences.

General Kristoffersen gave an interview with the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet where is gave his concerns of war with Russia due to Vladimir Putin’s predictably unpredictable behaviour.

He warned that Russia has built up their weapons stockpiles which far surpassing NATO and their allies expectations.

A Dutch army chief has also ordered his army to prepare for war as “Russia is getting stronger” and has warned his counterparts they need to get ready.

Lieutenant General Martin Wijnen told the EU that they need to prepare the Netherlands for war against Vladimir Putin and his forces.

He then warned that the Netherlands should be “afraid of war” and must prepare as Russian forces are just 1,500 kilometers away.

Lieutenant General Martin Wijnen spoke to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, he warned, “The Netherlands should be seriously afraid of war, and our society should prepare for it… Russia is getting stronger.”

Admiral Rob Bauer, chairman of the NATO Military Committee, gave a stern warning last week that Western countries will have to prepare and be ready “to find more people if it comes to war.”

General Sir Patrick echoed those comments, as Admiral Bauer said that the UK and European countries will have to consider “mobilisation, reservists or conscription” as the West are preparing for war with Russia.

Tory MP Tobias Ellwood who served with General Sir Patrick told Sky News there is a “1939 feel to the world” and he warned that UK is not ready to deal with what is soon to come “over the horizon.”

Ellwood made his comments after General Sir Patrick is set to give a speech warning that young men and women will be called up to join the armed forces and will be mobilised fight on the frontlines as the British Army is far too small.

Ellwood said General Sir Patrick is “one of the most cerebral thinkers that we’ve got” and a great “strategist.”

Ellwood said that the government needs “to listen and listen carefully, we’ve been too complacent.

“What’s coming over the horizon should shock us. It should worry us and we are not prepared.”
