A Russian drone has exploded in Belarus which caused power outages in the town of Kalinkavichya.

The monitoring group Belarus Hajun project and Belsat said that on 3 October around 5am a loud explosion was heard in the town, which was confirmed by several sources, RBC-Ukraine reported.

The Hajun project said, “12 minutes earlier, there were reports of a Shahed entering Belarusian airspace and moving toward Mazyr, passing east of Naroulia.”

They added, “The trajectory and speed of the Shahed suggest that at the time of the explosion, the drone was already over the town.

“At the same time, according to our data, no Belarusian Air Force activity was recorded over the Homiel region during this period.”

It is not known if the drone was shot down by air defences or detonated on impact, Belsat said that power outages was reported when an explosion was heard.
